Miss Drenthe Jill de Robles is Miss Nederland World 2011

It is the first time in the history of the Miss Nederland pageant and even if we go further in time, also the first time in the history of the Miss Holland pageant, that a girl from the province of Drenthe wins the Miss Nederland title. Jill de Robles was chosen to represent her province on May 8th. The jury voted unanimously for Jill to be Miss Drenthe '11 and proved to be right two months later on July 10th when another jury voted Jill to be part of Team Miss Nederland 2011, and to represent our country at the Miss World 2011 pageant.
Jill de Robles is a 22 year old girl from the city of Emmen in the southeast of Drenthe. At the time Jill became Miss Drenthe`11, she was in between studies: she studied cultural antroplogy in the city of Utrecht but decided to stop as the study did not live up to the expectations she had when she started the study. Although she became Student of the Year during her studies, Jill hesitated to enter the Miss Drenthe`11 pageant when she was asked to join, but her mother told her to give it a try.
During the preparations for the Miss Nederland 2011 finals and during bootcamp in Thailand, Jill stood out as she was always smiling, very interested in everything and very down to earth, besides being very beautiful. She was most noticed debating with Hero Brinkman,a right wing politician, when the finalists visited the "Tweede Kamer". As she studied cultural antropology, Jill did not agree on Hero's ideas on the headscarf, worn by many islamic women in the Netherlands.
Succesful girls from the province of Drenthe, participating in a beauty pageant, can be counted on just one hand: only once in the history of the Miss Nederland pageant a girl from Drenthe became 1st runner-up. (1994 Manon Ellérie). In 2000 Miss Drenthe Universe, Caroline Heyboer, reached the same spot and represented the Netherlands at the Miss International pageant in 2001.
