One More Day...
22-08-2009
"Give me one more night, give me one more day..." was the dutch song in the Eurovision Songcontest 2003 sung by Esther Hart. But we can hardly wait that long!!!
Three of the largests websites on beauty pageants have Avalon-Chanel in their top 15. Global Beauties place Miss Netherlands as 4th runner up. Critical Beauty and Missosology both think that Miss Weyzig will be at least in the semi final tomorrow.
"The face of the pageant" and Miss Photogenic are two titles that are mentioned by many pageantwatchers on many forums.
Avalon is also in the "Top 10 favorites to win the Miss Universe crown" at several bookmakers.
As Kim Kötter was chosen by Missosology as the best national director, at Critical Beauty she placed as a finalist. Kim just didn't win as the french national director, Sylvie Tellier, got the honours. Main difference? Sylvie is national director for two years and Kim is national director for just two months...
You can imagine how long "One more day" can be for the dutch pageant fans this year...

Avalon in the Bahamas...
11-08-2009
Not just fun in the sun and the battle for the semi finals, but also many friends. Avalon is a natural beauty who is also very friendly and honest.
On the pictures we see her with some of the other delegates. We know that she is very close with her roomate Miss Thailand but in this pictures we see that she also hangs out with Miss Poland, Phillipines and Paraguay.
Today on her program is a tour of Harbour Island by golf car and also some beach and leisure activities. We hope to show you some more pictures later on in this week.

National costume...
Laurisa inspired designed and prepared the National Costume for Miss Universe Netherlands Avalon Chanel to represent the Netherlands.
Avalon-Chanel: "When I was a small child I used to go for a bike ride with my parents in the dutch country side. Sitting in my child seat on the bike i was wondering the nice tulips and the canals and the nice windmills. After my childhood I realize this landscape of my childhood was disappearing making place for urbanization.
The modern technology was taking place of the old dutch windmill.
I am very proud of our prince Willem Alexander because he is our national and international ambassador for the global water management. The Netherlands a small country but we export our knowledge of the water management throughout the world. Now it is important then ever due to the global warming and the sea level rising perhaps we will be seeing the dutch windmill more often in the landscape or in other countries struggling with water management.
The designers Cora en Greg created the Dutch Windmill to represent the old landscape and skyline of the Netherlands.
The windmill is the Dutch symbol of managing the water flow in the Netherlands below sea level. The windmills are used to pump the water out of the country back into the sea.
The dress is made in the colours of the authentic mills, the top is created by feathers to replace the straw usually used on top of roofs of the windmills. Behind the dress the designers created a water stream of blue transparent materials.
The designers used lights to illuminate the costume and the lights are powered by 2 solar sells placed in the dress and in the middle of the blades. This dress is environmental friendly due to the materials and the technique used to create this dress."

Avalon in the Bahames...
07-08-2009
It is day four when Miss Thailand, who is the roommate of Miss Netherlands, wakes Avalon up 06.45 in the morning to tell her that she can take a shower. They have to be at breakfast at 08.00 hour. After breakfast all the girls took the bus to visit the ZOO of Paradise Island. Together with Martina, Miss Germany, Avalon had their own private tourguide, he was this 9 year old boy named Richard. They all had great fun seeing the flamingo's, feeding the bird etc etc... Avalon was very happy to see Richard laughing as he told her about his short but hard life.... "I was so happy to see the faces of crying children changing to smiling children..." a quote by Porntip Nakhirunkanok back in 1989 just before she crowned Angela Visser as the new Miss Universe.
After this visit all the girls went to see the national park, "Clifton Heritage". To end this busy day the misses had to take place in a boat and they were brought toan island. Here they could also tast some real Bahamian food; conch. Avalon was afraid she would not like it but she was very surprised when she found out that is was realy nice! After some dancing en relaxing the girls were brought back to the hotel. All the girls went to bed early! What will tomorrow bring...?

I have found Paradise...
03-08-2009
"I have found paradise": that are the first words we heard from Avalon-Chanel yesterday after arriving in the Bahamas. I was picked up in a limo and escorted by 4 policemen on a motorcycle. When I arrived at the hotel there were all these lovely presents like shoes, hats etc.
When Miss Netherlands had a stop at Miami airport people were asking her if she went to the Miss Universe pageant. They all said it would be a battle between Puerto Rico and.... Miss Netherlands...
Her first photoshoot went very well. Fadil Berisha was very excited to have Miss Netherlands as a model, he just couldn't stop making more and more pictures of Avalon. Also the interviews went excellent. The people doing the interviews were impressed with the intelligent answers given by miss Weyzig
On the picture we see Avalon at the dress fitting before one of the shoots yesterday (photo thanks to globalbeauty.com)
