On july 29th 2010 the new musical "Crazy Shopping" will have it's world première in Carre, Amsterdam. This musical was an idea from Elisa van der Meyden, who is the daughter of Henk van der Meyden and Monica Strotmann (Miss World 1971 and Miss International 1972). Last Saturday it was Extrema Outdoor Festival in Best/Eindhoven. Our very own Nathalie den Dekker did the presentation again, which she really loves to do next to her modelling career. This week Nathalie is doing her last presentations, shoots and shows. She is taking a break to go on a well deserved holiday. Beginning of august she will be back for the second part of her obligations for the rest of the year. Nathalie is going to do a lot more and we are certainly going to hear a lot more from her. For now Nathalie and her organisation wish everyone a very nice holiday.

Last Saturday 10th April 2010 Nathalie was invited to Oosterhout Live. Not as visitor but as press and presentation for Festival TV. She had the chance to interview Sieneke, Vinzzent and Charlene. Unfortunately the event had to cancel part of the program due to the storm. So Frans Bauer, Thomas Berger and few others did not perform. Miss Global Teen 2010...

Miss Global Teen has been elected past Saturday the 3rd July in Brazil. Domican Republic won the title. Belgium, Katleen Nuyts is 3rd Runner up and Miss Global Teen Europe.
Our Miss Global Teen Netherlands, Vivian did a great job, she made it to the top 12 and is placed on the 8th position.
We are very proud of Vivian, as she only had 4 full days to prepare as she only heard on the 23rd June she could go to Brazil. The departure of Vivian was on the 27th June as she had to be in Brazil on the 28th. Wednesday 6th July Vivian is coming back with a great experience and memory of Brazil.
Vivian never did a photoshoot, runwayshow, interview, pageant or contest. We hope that the Netherlands is ready for Vivian as Miss Global Teen coz she
will do a lot more this year.

29 juni 2010 Sinds gisteren vertoeft Miss Global Teen Netherlands te Brazilie zonder koffers en dus zonder kleren.
Ze vloog van Amsterdam met KLM eerst naar Parijs waar ze met een andere maatschappij verder moest en wat wel eens gebeurd overkwam onze Miss Global Teen, Vivian. De vliegmaatschappij is de koffers vergeten mee te nemen naar Brazilie,... Vivian komt letterlijk met lege handen aan, behalve haar handtas, zwarte jurk en paar pumps die ze aangeeft, start ze haar avontuur bij de internationale verkiezing van Miss Global Teen letterlijk met lege handen.
Vandaag vliegt de hele groep met jonge dames naar Bonito met hun mooie outfits, make up, bikini's, schoenen en nationale gifts naar
Bonito voor de officiele shoot en bezoeken. Vivian den Dekker moet het helaas zonder haar koffers doen.
Toen ze gisteren aankwam na een reis van 24 uur bleken ze haar koffers te hebben laten staan in Parijs.
Zat voor Vivian niks anders op om meteen na aankomst te shoppen in Brazilie. Daar heeft ze het hoogstnodige bij elkaar geshopt maar
mist ze dus een heleboel, waaronder dus ook haar nationale gifts. Dat het niet allemaal haat en nijd is blijkt maar weer. Miss Global Teen Paraguay en Belgie boden
een deel van hun koffer aan. De organisatie doet er alles aan om de koffers zo snel mogelijk ter plekke te krijgen en ondertussen is het behelpen,
maar bederft het de pret niet want Vivian vermaakt zich prima met alle jonge dames, de sfeer onderling is opperbest en Vivian die blijft niet onopgemerkt.
Voor Vivian is het op dit moment ook als het voetbal Brazilie - Nederland en voorlopig voor Vivian zonder voetbaltenue want die zit nog in de koffer.
Miss Italia Olanda 2010 did not make it to the second round. Miss Benelux 2010 Giovanna did make it to the second round, but failed than to go to the third round. The winner was Miss Italia Rebublica Dominicana, Kimberley Castillo Mota.

Tonight at 21.20h European time the 2010 Miss Italia nel Mondo will be on air. Miss Italia Olanda, Xana Erwich (picture) and Miss Italia Benelux Giovanna di Palma will represent the Netherlands and the Benelux. Miss Italia Suriname Cheyenne Fadda is also form the Netherlands.

Several celebrity judges will join the Miss Nederland 2010 pageant. One of the judges is Miss Universe Utrecht 1992 Fabiënne de Vries. Not as a former beauty queen but as a media trainer. Other judges are: "Privé Magazine" editor: Wilma Nanninga, stylist: Rosanna Kluivert, visagist: Thijs Willekes, fashion designer: Addy van den Krommenacker (head of the judges), director of CHI Farouk: Marc van Tooren, from globalbeauties.com: Ed Dominques and from misshollandnow.com : Stefan Hoven Lieuw-Choy. The last one also formed an international jury like last year. The members of this jury are pageant watchers form all around the world. Last year Shanna Moes was the winner at the international jury while the overall winner Avalon was first runner-up.

28 juni 2010, het startschot voor Miss Global Teen wordt vandaag gegeven in Campo Grande te Brazilie.Voor het eerst wordt er wereldwijd gezocht naar Miss Global Teen, een jonge ambitieuze tiener met een duidelijke missie. Nederland wordt vertegenwoordigd door Vivian den Dekker, een 17 jarige studente uit Made en Belgie wordt vertegenwoordigd door Katleen Luyts.Zij wordt bijgestaan door haar geweldige coach Jean Marie van den Casteele, een expert op Miss verkiezingen. Vivian kreeg pas op 24 juni 2010 te horen dat ze voor Nederland naar Brazilie kon en was het heel kort dag maar ze heeft alles voor elkaar en is er klaar voor.Ze heeft er zin in wel beetje zenuwachtig voor de lange reis, voor het eerst zo ver weg, dat is wel spannend natuurlijk. Haar ambities zijn duidelijk, een wereldberoemde actrice worden en een voorbeeld en inspiratie bron zijn voor de jongeren.Ze wil zich graag inzetten voor de kansarme kinderen en gaat in Brazilie aan de hand van haar talent ook geld inzamelen voor de weeshuizen van Brazilie. Daarnaast gaan ze ook haar voetbal tenue aantrekken en hopen dat ze vast kan scoren tegen Brazilie. Morgen vertrekt de hele groep naar Bonito voor twee dagen, daar gaat de officiele shoot door en aantal officiele bezoeken. De finale vindt plaats op 3 juli 2010.
Later dit jaar gaat Vivian naar Spanje voor 5 maanden om Spaans te leren.
The Miss Nederland 2010 candidates were VIP guests at the 2010 TMF awards (simular to the MTV awards) at Enschede. On the picture they are togenther with singer Waylon, who won the best new talent award. The singer had to vote for his winner and he voted for Sevtap! You can still vote for the girls here. She represented the Netherlands at two mayor pageants: Miss World in 1971 and Miss International in 1972: Monica Strottman. She married Henk van der Meyden, who started as a gossip reporter. Nowadays the two are succesfull theater producers. Two weeks ago Henk recieved the an oeuvre award at the Johney Kraaykamp musical awards, for all he has done for the theatre. Dionne Wulff has won the Miss Friendship award at the Miss Civilization of the World Beauty pageant in Turkey. This pageant is held twice this year. On the picture we see Dionne on the left with Miss Belghium, who became the 3rd runner-up. So far the dutch girls do very well at all international pageants, at everyone the dutch have won an award!! At the Miss Excusive 2011 pageant there are 2 dutch finalists: Zaynab Debaieb and Djamila Melcherts. Zaynap participated last year at the Miss BeNeLux pageant and was 4th runner-up and Djamila is offcourse a veteran at national an international beauty pageants. One of these tow will win the Miss Excusive the Netherlands title and represent the Netherlands at the Beauty of the World pageant. On the picture we see both girls on the left standing and sitting.

It was an exciting day at "the Telegraaf" building at Amsterdam. Almost 100 girls were selected to come and show themselve to the Miss Nederland jury and to be selected as one of the 12 finalists for the Miss Nederland pageant. Stefan Hoven Lieuw Choy from Miss Holland Now was like last year very honoured to be one of the judges again. Among the girls we saw many new faces but also some familiar ones from otehr pageants.
After the first two rounds of competition: presentation and swimsuit only 26 girls were invited to stay and battle to be one of the 12 finalists.
One big change in the competition! Instead of 12 provincial misses the organisation decided to select 12 finalists. To select those 12 there were three parts in the next hours that followed: catwalk training, personal interview and a photoshoot. To get just 12 finalists was very hard for the jury as all the remaining 25 were very good in the several parts. But a jury is a jury and they made their desicion. Yesterday at Amersfoort Nanny Verwey Nielen and Stefan Hoven Lieuw Choy were judges at the second selection day for the Mrs Globe Netherlands pageant. She will be Miss Nederland for only one month but Avalon-Chanel is still competing in the International beauty pageant Miss WM (Welt Meisterschaft, Miss World Cup) in Germany. The photo on the right is shot by Filipe Ribeiro, who is the official photographer for the Miss WM. 32 girls from the countries who participate in the World Cup 2010 are in the pageant. The final will be on friday the 4th at the Europa Park in Rust. Miss WM 2006 Edwige Madze Badakou from Togo and dutch soccer player Roy Makaay will be two of the judges.

Miss Noord, Bo Ufkes represented the Netherlands at the Miss Tarnowo Podgorne in Polen. Being Miss Noord (Miss North, a pageant for girls from the north of the Netherlands) gave her the ticket to go to this pageant. Bo did a great job coming in second place. Miss Czech republic was the winner. There were girls from 6 countries.

It was an exciting evening for the 12 finalists for the Miss Overijssel 2010 pageant. Only one girl could get the crown and represent the provincy Overijssel at the Miss Nederland pageant on july 4th in the Efteling at kaatsheuvel. The last round of competition with only 4 finalists selected by the jury and 1 selected by the audience the 5 had to answer a question in dutch and in english. From these 5 the jury decided that Ezgy was the runner-up and the new Miss Overijssel is Petra. Keep an eye on misshollandnow.com for a full report..

Sanne just missed the first spot at the anual Student of the Year competittion. The winner was Paula Beukeveld There were all kinds of awards at the competition. Like the the male student of the year, won by Nawid Habib. There was also an award for the best buttocks, this competition was won by playboy model Nancy Lynn de Ronde. Also finalists at that competition were Queen of the Benelux 2010 finalisists Priscilla van der Gun and Melany d'Fonseca. First runner-up was Cynthia Cremers who was at the top 20 of Miss Earth Netherlands 2006 pageant.

Kimberley van Putten has won the dutch title for Queen Benelux 2010. She also won the internet poll of Misshollandnow. Second runner-up Samantha Wolff also became Miss Press and Miss Bikini. First runner-up Dionne Wulff will represent the Netherlands at the Miss Civilization of the World in Turkey and also got a sash as a finalist for the Queen of the Benelux 2010 pageant.The overall winner of the pageant is Julie Ghoos from Belgium. Katharina Winterschladen and Laura de Cleen also got sashes for Queen of the Benelux 2010 pageant. Miss Holland Now of the Year 2009, Inger de Jonge and Miss Holland Now of the Year 2007, Milou Verhoeks were seated in the jury. Because several girsl left te pageant just 4 girls ar in the race for the crown. For both the dutch and the belgian girls there are two titles for an international pageant to win: Miss Bikini at Malta and Miss Civilization at Turkey.

Last saterday the first selection day for the Mrs Globe pageant took place in Amersfoort. We were invited to take place in the jury and were represented by Nanny Verwey Nielen. On the picture we see Nanny with Miss Universe Netherlands 2001 Reshma Roopram. Reshma is pregnant with her second child and was there to support her sister who made the first cut and will go on to the second round of competition. Here some more pictures.

Avalon-Chanel Weyzig, Miss Nederland 2009 has made it to the top 50 at the Miss Grand Slam a pageant created by the populair website Global Beauties. In this pageant all semifinalists, finalists and winners in the 5 grand slam pageants participate, but also the girls who were highly placed in the global beauties pre-polls of these pageants are in this pageant. In the end 100 girls participate. The first cut was made and Avalon is still in the pageant!!

This year the "Giro d'Italia" will start in Amsterdam. Like Miranda Slabber, who is looking for a Miss Giro in Middelburg, AT5 is looking for a Miss Giro. Every week on AT5 you can follow the 10 finalists and every week two finalists will be eliminated from the pageant. One of the finalists was a boy, he is already out of the competition. We already know 2 of the other girls : Lucia Machine, Miss Italia Indonesia 2009 and Maxine Furst, first runner-up at the Miss Overijssel pageant in 2008. Kim Kötter is the new francise holder for Miss Earth. The next Miss Earth Netherlands will be chosen at the next Miss Nederland pageant later this year, not at the Miss Universe Netherlands pageant!! At the Miss Nederland 2010 pageant probably (we are not sure yet) the next Miss World Netherlands 2010, Miss Earth Netherlands 2010 and the Miss Universe Netherlands 2011 will be chosen. We will keep you updated!!

As of today we from www.misshollandnow.com stopped the collaboration with the Miss Benelux organisation. This all because of the bad publicity we got due to all the commotion around the Miss BeNeLux organisation We had a good 3 years of following the girls to the Miss Benelux pageant and the Miss Earth pageant. Especially last year it was an honour for us to photograph the girls for the programme book and to visit the grand final in Turkey.

The belgian dutch Katia Maes is already for three yers the dutch national director for the Miss Tourism Queen International beauty pageant. She is very happy and proud to announce that from now on she will also be the national director for Belgium and Luxemburg. The three girls who will represent their country will go to one of the five grand slam pageants in the world. They will go to China for 1 month where the Miss Tourism International pageant will take place. It will be a great experience as the girls will travel a lot, have lots of photoshoots and do several runway shows, all for thousands of people. Honza is the fifth Mister Nederland to represent the Netherlands at the Mister World pageant. So far the Netherlands never placed for the semi-finals.
Kim Kötter is the national director of the Mister Nederland pageant. We wish Honza all the best and will follow him during his stay in Korea.

In several media in the Netherlands and Belgium the Miss BeNeLux organisation was brought into disrepute. Former participants claim that the organisation kept the proceeds of the sales of chocolates, meant for children with cancer in the Netherlands and Belgium, to themselves. This all happened in 2007 and 2008.
The organisation responded that the costs of the chocolates was higher than the actual profit. She believes that this is a conspiricy against the organisation.

In Memorian: Frans Verlinden...

This morning Frans Verlinden passed away. Frans was the francise holder of the Miss Holland pageant from 1987 till 1993. His biggest accomplishment was when Angela Visser became the first and so far last Miss Universe from Holland. His first Miss Holland pageant in 1987 was a big succes as it was broadcasted on television. The winner of that pageant, Angelique Cremers, became an instant celebrity. Our condolences go to the family.

Miss BeNeLux Netherlands 2010 and therefore Miss Earth Netherlands 2010 Nathalie den Dekker is on tour. Yesterday she was at the Carnaval Parade in Maden and there she made it clear that we have to be good for mother Earth. Last week we were guests in Eindhoven for the casting for the dutch finalists for Miss BeNeLux 2011. A record of 22 girls were selected to go to Turkey in october were for the second time the finals will be. We can not reveal the names yet. Franca Nieuwenhuys represents the Netherlands at the Topmodel of the World pageant 2010 held in Germany. The finals will be on february 21st. 42 girls from all around the world will compete for the crown and title. In 2009 there was no pageant. In 2008 the pageant was won by Yolimar Sanchez from Brazil. For Franca it is already the fourth pageant.
SCOOP : Benelux Queens put together hands
Last week Missitems proclaimed a new beauty pageant “Queen of the Benelux” , from the organisation of the Queen of the Netherlands 2008, Milou Verhoeks. Meanwhile Karin Nuyts from Fashion Moves was already preparing her new pageant: “Queen Benelux” . Unforseen both organisations chose for almost the same name, without knowing about each other. Whilst the Queen of the Benelux select a Benelux participant for the international pageant “Queen of the World” , the Queen Benelux select candidates for pageants like “Miss European Tourism Beauty Queen” and “World Bikini Model”. To avoid misunderstanding the 2 organisations decided to collaborate, which is unique in the beautypageant and modelling industry.
The Benelux Queens will be in the jury of their fellow pageants; the runners up for the respective countries will be automatically selected for the finals of the fellow pageants and thus still make a chance to win a title. Furthermore both organisations will appoint wildcards for the other pageant.
The final for Queen Benelux will be may 14th 2010 in Carré in Willebroek.
The final for the Queen of the Benelux will take place in october 2010.
Milou in fashionshow for Dutchpuppys...

Milou Verhoeks was one of the "lovely" models who showed a "Dutchpuppy" T-shirt at a show special for the "Dutchpuppy" foundation. She poses with Bridget Maasland who is the spokesperson for this foundation. The T-shirts can be bought at all "The Sting"shops and a part of the branch will go to the foundation, who helps stray dogs everywhere in the World.

Today there was a memorial ceremony at het concertgebouw in Amsterdam for the fashiondesigner Edgar Vos who died last week at the age of 78. He was one of the most famous designers in the Netherlands. Miss Universe Netherlands 1991 Paulien Huizinga was one of his muzes. He was the godfather of one of her children and a witness at her wedding. Paulien was one of the speakers today. Many people from showbizz, politics and fashion attended the ceremony.

First Miss Nederland 1998 and today we learned that Miss Nederland 1997 Sonja Silva will also get a divorce. Sonja married her husband Dirk-Jan september 12th 2008 so the marriage lasted just over one year. We wish the both of them all the best...

Miss Nederland 1998 Nerene Ruinemans will divorce cyclist Michael Boogerd. Last year they tried to resque their marriage but it is all in the media that their effort did not succeed.We wish the two of them all the best. (photo: ANP)

First of all the best wishes for 2010. What did 2009 bring us and what will 2010 bring us? 2009 was a great year for the dutch beauty pageants and for www.misshollandnow.com . For the first time in years the Netherlands was represented at all major pageants. It was for the first time since 1988/1989 that one girl went to the two most prestigious pageants in the world: the Miss Universe pageant and the Miss World pageant. It was Avalon-Chanel Weyzig who had that honour. She was first crowned as Miss Universe Netherlands 2009 and was later appointed Miss Nederland 2009. This all could happen as Kim Kötter took over the franchise of the Miss Nederland pageant from Hans Konings. In 2010 there will be a new Miss Nederland pageant. Miss Kötter will also be responsible for the Miss Netherlands at the Miss Europe pageant. She was rewarded by Missosology as the best national director for the Miss Universe pageant.
Since 2002 there was no Miss Netherlands at the Miss International pageant, so we were also very happy to see that Katia Maes, who has been sending dutch girls to several big pageants, as the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant and the Miss Intercontinental pageant, did send the lovely Roline Hund to this major pageant. We know that there will also be a dutch girl in the 2010 Miss International pageant.
So, in 2010 the Netherlands will be at all pageants and we will keep you updated on all the girls and pageants. We will be there!!
In the next months we will show you with all new pictures our own Miss Holland Now 2009/2010, the beautiful Inger de Jonge, who was our Queen of the Netherlands at the Queen of the World 2009 pageant. We also have contacted some lovely and very interesting women for our Miss Holland Now of the Month. We will start with that in february. We also will be updating our history pages.
So stay tuned for a great year, hopefully with some semi finalists or maybe even a winner!(?)
World in Turkey and also got a sash as a finalist for the Queen of the Benelux 2010 pageant.The overall winner of the pageant is Julie Ghoos from Belgium. Katharina Winterschladen and Laura de Cleen also got sashes for Queen of the Benelux 2010 pageant. Miss Holland Now of the Year 2009, Inger de Jonge and Miss Holland Now of the Year 2007, Milou Verhoeks were seated in the jury. On the same night Miss Exclusive of the World Netherlands 2010 was introduced to the public. Tamara Slijkhuis (on the right) will represent the Netherlands at this pageant which is held in Turkey.
